School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is a great way to have your training supported by experienced teachers. Training includes tutorials and seminars that cover the same material as university or college-based courses.

How it works

  • The SCITT is led by experienced, practising teachers, tailored towards local training needs.
  • You will be based in one placement school from the consortium, while also completing a second teaching practice at another school.
  • The programme lasts one year, commencing in September. You will train alongside experienced teaching staff, building up your teaching practice.
  • You train each week on a range of professional studies and subject specific training sessions. A consecutive Key Stage experience and second school placement is arranged by the provider.

The SCITT has over 15 years’ experience as an accredited, school-based initial teacher training provider.

Training provides a strong focus on practical, classroom-based experience.   Courses lead to Qualified Teacher Status in primary practice.
