We believe that the most effective way to train you to teach your subject is to allow you to spend the maximum time possible in the classroom with an experienced practitioner as your Mentor. You will undertake teaching placements in at least two different schools. During each placement you will be supported by a subject specialist who has been trained to act as your Mentor, as well as a Senior Member of staff who oversees the placement.

Within the School Direct routes, we offer (Qualified Teacher Status) QTS but can also provide trainees with the opportunity to gain a Level 7 PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) qualification. This is a distance learning PGCE, completed online and delivered and assessed by Leeds Beckett University

This is an option available to all KMT trainees and is studied alongside the KMT QTS programme. As an accrediting provider, KMT is able to award QTS independently. Those choosing to do the PGCE will achieve 60 MA credits. Anybody wishing to teach abroad must check with the entry requirements as these vary considerably in different countries.

We also offer places through the Schools Direct programmes in Science, Maths, English, Modern Foreign Languages, Business Studies, History, Geography, PE, Dance, Drama, Primary, Computer Science, Art, RE, Design Technology and other subjects dependent on school needs.

Following an Ofsted inspection in 2018, KMT is judged as a Good provider. View the full report.
